SIM Cards & eSIM in Poland

Europe · 15 plans

Poland has one of Europe’s best-value mobile markets, with four operators – Orange, Play, Plus and T-Mobile – all running extensive 4G LTE and fast-growing 5G across Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw, Gdansk, Poznan and beyond. Coverage is excellent in cities and along major roads, with only the most remote forests and mountain areas (the Bieszczady, parts of the Tatras) thinning out. As an EU country, Poland is covered by “roam like at home,” and local prepaid SIMs here are among the cheapest in the EU, making it a great place to buy data.

Networks & coverage

Orange and T-Mobile have the strongest, widest 4G/5G networks, Play offers great value with broad reach, and Plus rounds out the field as the cheapest entry point. Travel eSIMs usually roam on Orange, Play or Plus, giving solid urban and roadside data. Expect fast 5G in the big cities and reliable 4G on highways and in towns; signal can weaken in dense national-park forest and high in the Tatra mountains.

eSIM or physical SIM?

Both are excellent in Poland. An eSIM from Airalo, Saily or Nomad installs before departure and works on arrival with zero paperwork. But local prepaid SIMs are so cheap – often a few zloty for a starter pack with tens of gigabytes – that buying an Orange or Play SIM in any kiosk or phone shop can beat a travel eSIM on price. For convenience choose an eSIM; for maximum value on a longer stay, grab a local prepaid SIM.

Data, calls & messaging

Travel eSIMs are data-only, which works well as WhatsApp and Messenger are ubiquitous in Poland. A local Orange or T-Mobile prepaid SIM bundles big data allowances with unlimited domestic calls and texts and a Polish number, handy for taxis, restaurants and ticketing. Because Poland is in the EU, a SIM bought here also roams at home rates across the rest of the bloc.

How much data do you need?

A week of maps, messaging and browsing fits in 3-5 GB. Two weeks of city-hopping with social media and photos suits 10 GB. Heavy streamers and remote workers should pick 15-30 GB – trivially cheap here, where a local 30 GB Orange bundle costs around EUR7. Given Polish prices, many travelers simply buy a large local prepaid pack and never worry about running out.

How we compile this data

Plan data is compiled from the public pricing pages of mobile operators, MVNOs, and eSIM providers serving each destination.

Listings are reviewed by the DROAM telecom desk and kept neutral — we surface a representative sample of options rather than promote any single provider.

Operators change allowances and pricing frequently, so we update entries as plans change and always link out to the provider for the current offer.
