Lithuania is served by three operators — Telia, Bite and Tele2 — each running nationwide 4G LTE with 5G now live in Vilnius, Kaunas and other cities. As an EU member, Lithuania is covered by the “roam-like-at-home” rules, so an EU SIM works here at home rates and a Lithuanian SIM works EU-wide. Mobile data is fast, cheap and very widely available.
Networks & coverage
Telia is usually rated the best for overall coverage, closely followed by Bite and Tele2; all three deliver strong 4G across the country. Coverage is excellent in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda and along the main routes, with 5G concentrated in the larger cities. Rural areas and the Curonian Spit are well covered on 4G.
eSIM or physical SIM?
Local prepaid SIMs are cheap and easy to find — Pildyk (Tele2), Ezys (Telia) and Labas (Bite) starter kits run roughly €1–€5.50 at kiosks, supermarkets and operator stores, including at Vilnius Airport (VNO). For short visits, international eSIM brands such as Airalo, Saily and Holafly are the simplest choice; they roam on the local networks and can be set up before arrival.
Data, calls & messaging
Local plans are generous: Pildyk offers an unlimited-data weekly plan with calls and SMS for about €6, and Labas sells a monthly unlimited-data plan for around €7.50. A local physical SIM includes a Lithuanian number with calls and texts, while international tourist eSIMs are data-only. Most travelers handle calls and messaging through WhatsApp, Messenger or Telegram over data.
How much data do you need?
