Finland is famous among travellers for genuinely cheap unlimited mobile data — prepaid unlimited plans often cost under €1 per day, and no SIM registration is required. As an EU member, every Finnish SIM also roams across the European Union, with a generous EU data cap bundled into the unlimited plans. 5G is live nationwide.
Networks & coverage
Three operators run the market: DNA, Elisa and Telia. All three offer strong coverage even across Finland’s vast, sparsely populated north — useful for Lapland and aurora trips — with 5G in Helsinki, Tampere, Turku and other cities. Differences between them are small; pick on price and the EU data allowance you need.
eSIM or physical SIM?
Since 2025 DNA, Telia and Elisa all sell eSIMs, but only in their official stores rather than convenience shops. Travel eSIMs (Airalo Eurolink, Saily, Ubigi) are the fastest way to land connected. For the legendary cheap unlimited data, though, a physical prepaid SIM from an R-Kioski is the classic move.
Data, calls & messaging
Finnish unlimited prepaid plans bundle calls and SMS and tier mainly by speed (4G, 5G, 5G+) and by how much of the data is usable elsewhere in the EU — typically 14–18 GB of EU roaming. DNA’s Rajaton range and Elisa’s prepaid tiers are the headline options. Calls home outside the EU are cheapest over VoIP apps.
How much data do you need?
Inside Finland, just buy unlimited — it is so cheap that rationing makes no sense. If your trip continues into other EU countries, watch the EU roaming sub-cap (around 14–18 GB) and top up or add an EU eSIM if you will exceed it. Light users staying only in Finland can still save with a small data eSIM.

How we compile this data
Plan data is compiled from the public pricing pages of mobile operators, MVNOs, and eSIM providers serving each destination.
Listings are reviewed by the DROAM telecom desk and kept neutral — we surface a representative sample of options rather than promote any single provider.
Operators change allowances and pricing frequently, so we update entries as plans change and always link out to the provider for the current offer.

The lowest-cost option listed is Symda at €1.70 for 1 GB over 7 days.
eSIM plans activate instantly by scanning a QR code — no SIM swap or local store visit needed.
A physical SIM can be the better choice for older phones that do not support eSIM.
Check that your phone is carrier-unlocked before buying, and match the data allowance to your trip length.
