SIM Cards & eSIM in Togo

Africa · 10 plans

Togo, a narrow strip of West Africa reaching from the Gulf of Guinea into the Sahel, centres its connectivity on the seaside capital Lomé (LFW). The market is small and concentrated, but coverage in the south is dependable and travellers can choose between travel eSIMs and inexpensive local SIMs.

Networks & coverage

Two operators run Togo’s networks: Togocom (now branded Yas, the former Togo Cellulaire) and Moov Africa Togo. Both provide 4G/LTE that is reliable across Lomé and the coastal belt, easing to 3G as you move north toward Kara and Dapaong. There is no live 5G for travellers, so 4G is the realistic top speed.

eSIM or physical SIM?

An eSIM is the quickest way to get online: install it before you travel and connect automatically when you reach Lomé, skipping the registration desk entirely. A local Togocom or Moov physical SIM is cheaper for heavy data and gives you a Togolese number for mobile money (T-Money, Moov Money) and local calls, but registration requires your passport at an authorised outlet.

Data, calls & messaging

Most travel eSIMs here are data-only, with calls and texts handled by WhatsApp, Telegram or iMessage over data. A local prepaid SIM includes a real number with voice and SMS, which matters if you use mobile money or need to phone Togolese contacts. For the typical short stay, data coverage plus calling apps is sufficient.

How much data do you need?

A week of maps, messaging and email fits neatly into 1–3 GB. For two to three weeks with steady browsing and video calls, a 5 GB monthly plan is the practical pick, while streaming or hotspot use pushes toward 10 GB. Since Togo runs on 4G, keep large downloads and video on Wi-Fi to conserve your allowance.

How we compile this data

Plan data is compiled from the public pricing pages of mobile operators, MVNOs, and eSIM providers serving each destination.

Listings are reviewed by the DROAM telecom desk and kept neutral — we surface a representative sample of options rather than promote any single provider.

Operators change allowances and pricing frequently, so we update entries as plans change and always link out to the provider for the current offer.
