SIM Cards & eSIM in Seychelles

Africa · 9 plans

The Seychelles is a luxury island archipelago in the Indian Ocean, northeast of Madagascar, made up of 115 granite and coral islands. Most travellers base themselves on Mahé (the main island, home to Victoria and the international airport, code SEZ), Praslin, or La Digue. Despite its remote, high-end resort feel, the main islands are surprisingly well connected.

Networks & coverage

Two operators serve the islands: Cable & Wireless Seychelles (C&W, branded “Sure” in some markets) and Airtel Seychelles. Both offer 4G/LTE across Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue, with 5G now live in parts of Mahé around Victoria. Coverage is strong on the three main islands and their beaches, but thins out on the smaller outer islands and at sea between them.

eSIM or physical SIM?

A local tourist SIM is easy to buy at the airport for around SCR 100 (roughly USD 7–8), and both C&W and Airtel sell visitor data “boosters.” But for zero-hassle arrival, travel eSIMs from Airalo, Holafly, and Saily activate the moment you land and avoid the registration desk. Holafly offers unlimited-data eSIMs for the Seychelles for those who stream heavily; Airalo and Saily sell cheaper fixed-data plans.

Data, calls & messaging

Travel eSIMs are data-only — use WhatsApp or FaceTime over data for calls and messages. If you want a local number, the airport tourist SIM from Cable & Wireless or Airtel includes some local call credit and lets you add data boosters as you go. Resort Wi-Fi is widely available, so your mobile data may largely cover transit, beaches, and island-hopping.

How much data do you need?

With resort Wi-Fi filling the gaps, 1–3 GB covers a typical beach holiday of maps, messaging, and social posts. A week of heavier use, navigation between islands, and photo/video uploads is comfortable on 5 GB. Remote workers or constant streamers should consider a 10 GB plan or one of Holafly’s unlimited options.

How we compile this data

Plan data is compiled from the public pricing pages of mobile operators, MVNOs, and eSIM providers serving each destination.

Listings are reviewed by the DROAM telecom desk and kept neutral — we surface a representative sample of options rather than promote any single provider.

Operators change allowances and pricing frequently, so we update entries as plans change and always link out to the provider for the current offer.

  • eSIM plans activate instantly by scanning a QR code — no SIM swap or local store visit needed.
  • A physical SIM can be the better choice for older phones that do not support eSIM.
  • Check that your phone is carrier-unlocked before buying, and match the data allowance to your trip length.
