Telkomsel is widely regarded as the best network with the most extensive island coverage; Indosat (IM3), XL Axiata, Smartfren and Tri (3) are the other main operators. 4G is broad across populated areas and 5G is live in parts of Jakarta, Bali and major cities, though coverage thins on remote islands. eSIM or physical SIM?
If your phone supports eSIM, buy online and install before you fly. Physical tourist SIMs are sold at Ngurah Rai (Bali) and Soekarno-Hatta (Jakarta) airports, plus operator GraPARI stores; passport registration is required and counter prices are higher than buying in town.
