Networks & coverage
Two operators dominate Honduras: Tigo and Claro. Both run 4G LTE networks with the widest coverage and most reliable speeds in the major cities; 5G is not meaningfully available to travelers yet. Coverage is good in Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula and tourist hubs, but expect gaps in remote rural regions and parts of the Mosquito Coast.
eSIM or physical SIM?

For a short trip of maps and messaging, 1-3 GB is plenty. A longer stay with photo uploads and video calls is better served by 5-10 GB. Local carriers regularly offer 10-25 GB bundles for around 5-9 USD, so heavier data use stays cheap if you buy a local SIM.
