Telekom Srbija has secured a $50 million loan from the Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) to support the expansion of its 5G network across Serbia.
The operator says the financing will fund equipment and software sourced from US technology companies, with commercial 5G launched in December 2025 and coverage targets stretching into 2027.
EXIM financing and what it will pay for
Telekom Srbija said the $50 million EXIM loan will be used for equipment and software sourced from US technology companies. The operator also highlighted its long-standing ties with American financial and technology partners.
5G rollout timeline: cities by end-2026, nationwide in 2027
Telekom Srbija launched commercial 5G services in December 2025 with backing from EXIM. The operator is targeting coverage across all Serbian cities by the end of 2026 and plans nationwide 5G coverage in 2027.
CEO frames the loan as infrastructure acceleration
Group CEO Vladimir Lucic described the agreement as a major milestone for both Telekom Srbija and the wider Western Balkans region. He also said the funding would help accelerate next-generation digital infrastructure deployment.
2025 performance and access to international capital markets
Telekom Srbija reported strong full-year 2025 results, with revenue rising 28% to 2.3 billion and adjusted EBITDA increasing 51% to 2.3 billion. The operator also returned to international capital markets with a new bond offering after its inaugural $900 million Eurobond, which became the first corporate Eurobond issued from the Western Balkans and later won Europe Telecom Deal of the Year for Financing at the TMT Finance Awards EMEA 2026. For global connectivity continuity during coverage buildouts, some organizations also evaluate satellite connectivity solutions as a complementary path where needed.
