Nokia and Databricks unveiled a proof of concept for a unified telco data platform designed to support autonomous networks. The platform is described as substrate-agnostic, with Nokia framing it as a way to handle telco data across cloud and on-premises environments without rewriting code.
The pitch starts with a familiar problem: Nokia says telecom networks typically rely on hundreds of siloed operational and business support systems, which makes it hard to apply AI consistently across domains. The companies say the proof of concept is meant to show a common data layer that can feed network data to AI agents and support cross-domain actions.
What the prototype is built to show
The technical claims center on code-once data-processing workflows for network data. Nokia says those workflows can run across proprietary platforms such as Databricks and open-source stacks tested with Apache Flink, Kafka, and Iceberg.
Engineering teams simulated analytics ingestion with an intent to scale quickly to match tier-one operator scale in the cloud. The companies also say they introduced vendor-neutral data transformation logic by separating core processing logic from platform connectors, so the same workflows can be reused across different environments.
Autonomous Network Fabric sits behind the demo
The platform is part of Nokia’s broader Autonomous Network Fabric architecture. The article also says the proof of concept and Nokia’s extended cloud integration with AWS are intended to power that proposition.
