Dialog Axiata launched its Air Fibre 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) service in Sri Lanka on Sunday, positioning it as the first 5G FWA offering in the country.
The Air Fibre home router is designed to backhaul in-home Wi-Fi via Dialog Axiata2s 5G network, and includes a built-in battery intended to keep service running during power outages.
Air Fibre home router: 5G backhaul and multi-device support
Dialog Axiata says the Air Fibre home router delivers Wi-Fi connectivity in the home, with the service backhauled by its 5G network.
The operator also says the router is engineered to support multiple devices at the same time without compromising speed.
Battery-backed uptime during power outages
Dialog Axiata says the Air Fibre router includes a built-in battery providing up to six hours of continuous usage.
Dialog also says the battery is intended to guarantee uptime during power outages.
Use cases and bundling with Dialog Play
Dialog Axiata says Air Fibre is intended to deliver a substantial improvement in speed and performance versus 4G-based FWA services, targeting smooth streaming, video conferencing, online gaming, and remote working.
Dialog Axiata is also bundling its Dialog Play video streaming service with Air Fibre packages.
