The CMA CGM Group has taken delivery of the CMA CGM Notre Dame, a new-generation LNG-powered container ship with a capacity of 24,212 TEU. The vessel began its maiden commercial voyage in Shanghai and is scheduled to arrive in France and Europe in early July.
French Asia Line deployment and 102-day rotation
The CMA CGM Notre Dame will be deployed on the French Asia Line (FAL), CMA CGM9s service described as connecting Asia and Europe. The vessel operates on a rotation of approximately 102 days, calling at Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Singapore, Le Havre, Rotterdam, Hamburg and Tangier Med.
Key vessel dimensions and container capacity
The ship is 400 meters long, 62 meters wide, and 75 meters high, with a design described as optimized to increase carrying capacity by 280 containers without increasing its dimensions. CMA CGM positions the FAL route as one of the world9s main trade corridors with a key role in supplying European economies.
LNG, energy reductions, and reefers: what9s on board
Beyond LNG propulsion, the vessel includes an aerodynamic windshield system intended to lower energy consumption, plus an 18,600 cubic meter LNG tank intended to provide autonomy on Asia-Europe routes. It also includes smart energy-management solutions for powering and ventilating refrigerated containers, supporting 1,600 reefer plugs.
Digital bridge, AI optimization, and fleet centers
The CMA CGM Notre Dame integrates technologies and AI solutions to enhance operational performance, including a fully digitalized bridge with real-time navigation tools enhanced by augmented reality. It also uses embedded AI to optimize routes, adjust speed, and control energy consumption, with systems supported by CMA CGM9s Fleet Centers in Marseille, Miami and Singapore.
Delivery series through 2028
The CMA CGM Notre Dame inaugurates a series of 10 vessels named after emblematic landmarks of French heritage. CMA CGM says the series will be delivered between 2026 and 2028 and progressively deployed across the world9s major maritime trade routes.
