CM Energy unveiled the design of its Meridian Class commissioning and service operation vessel (CSOV), positioning the ship for commissioning, operations, maintenance, and major component exchange work in offshore wind.
The Meridian Class is being developed to meet growing demand for offshore support vessels, with a platform designed to North Sea standards and aimed at reducing the cost burden of offshore wind operations and maintenance for developers, owners, and operators.
CM Energy also said the CSOV design builds in modern accommodation and logistics features, a mission-focused layout intended to maximize operational uptime while lowering project costs. The company added that the Meridian Class will be available with a range of propulsion options, including alternative-fuel configurations and a fully electric propulsion version, plus flexible financing packages and commercial arrangements to support acquisition and deployment across offshore wind markets.
Meridian Class scope and North Sea design basis
CM Energy says the Meridian Class CSOV is suitable for commissioning, operations, maintenance and major component exchange campaigns in the offshore wind sector, and that the vessel platform is designed to North Sea standards.
CM Energy also describes the vessel as intended to give offshore wind developers, owners, and operators a cost-effective option for operations and maintenance activities.
Mission-focused layout aimed at uptime and cost reduction
CM Energy says the Meridian Class incorporates modern offshore accommodation standards, logistics solutions, and a mission-focused layout.
The stated objective of that design approach is to maximize operational uptime while reducing project costs.
Propulsion flexibility plus commercial financing models
CM Energy says the Meridian Class will be available with a range of propulsion options, including alternative-fuel configurations, and that it will also have a fully electric propulsion version.
CM Energy frames that flexibility as helping owners and charterers meet sustainability targets and environmental requirements, and adds it will offer flexible financing packages and commercial arrangements for vessel acquisition and deployment across offshore wind markets.
CM Energy executive links CSOV positioning to flexible commercial models
Shi Wei, Assistant President/Director International of CM Energy, said the Meridian Class was developed to provide the offshore wind sector with a safe, efficient, commercially attractive, and future-ready CSOV solution.
Wei also said CM Energy believes the Meridian Class will set a new benchmark for value and performance in the offshore wind support vessel market by combining proven offshore principles with innovative design and flexible commercial models.
