Speedcast signs multi-year Starlink deployment for APAC oil and gas operator

Speedcast has signed a multi-year agreement to deploy a low-Earth-orbit satellite connectivity network for an oil and gas producer operating in the Asia-Pacific region. The contract covers connectivity and network management across the customer’s onshore and offshore facilities (via www.telecompaper.com).

The customer will consolidate its communications services with Speedcast and migrate its connectivity to Starlink across its operations.

Onshore and offshore scope

The agreement spans both onshore and offshore facilities, so this is not a narrow site-by-site trial. Speedcast is taking on connectivity and network management across the customer’s footprint, with Starlink set as the satellite layer across the operation.

Communications consolidation

The operator will consolidate communications services with Speedcast as part of the deal. That makes the agreement a broader services shift, not just a replacement of one satellite link with another.

Droam Perspective

For satellite connectivity buyers in oil and gas, this is a plain commercial signal: Speedcast is selling a managed LEO service across a multi-site APAC estate. The disclosed scope is broad enough to cover both connectivity and network management, and the customer is moving communications under one supplier while shifting to Starlink.
