BICS and Thales back eSIM activation for IoT under “IoT Connectivity Activation”

BICS and Thales announced a strategic partnership aimed at removing obstacles to mass eSIM adoption for enterprise IoT.

Thales developed an eSIM activation solution that enables IoT devices to connect directly and remotely to an operator’s SIM deployment platform. The approach is described as allowing automatic connectivity to mobile network operators around the world, with coverage across 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, LTE-M, and NB-IoT.

BICS said it will facilitate eSIM placement inside Thales Cinterion modules through its “IoT Connectivity Activation” service. BICS executive Luc Vidal-Madjar said removing eSIM-management obstacles in connected objects will enable massive eSIM adoption in industry, while the article also claims the solution can improve connectivity flexibility and help reduce time to market.
