Lynk and Omnispace have completed a merger and will operate as Elveo Mobile. The new company is a direct-to-device business, with a spectrum portfolio, a target of 320 low-Earth-orbit satellites, and commercial services planned for 2028.
Spectrum, sectors, and the planned network footprint
Elveo Mobile says its spectrum portfolio is meant to support enhanced services and address coverage gaps in consumer, automotive, IoT, and government use cases. That points to a broader scope than a single consumer service, even if the company has not laid out any launch-specific product detail beyond the merger terms.
SES adds investment and operating support
SES has expanded its investment in the company. SES will also work with Elveo Mobile on global spectrum initiatives and support its go-to-market, engineering, operations, and regulatory needs.
Adel Al-Saleh, chief executive officer of SES, said SES saw Elveo as the kind of strategic partner it wanted for direct-to-device services, and that SES customers will gain access to premium direct-to-device services.
What this means for satellite IoT buyers and D2D planners
For satellite IoT buyers, automotive connectivity teams, and public-sector procurement groups, the relevant benchmark is not the merger label but the operating plan: 320 LEO satellites, launch timing in the fourth quarter of next year, and commercial service in 2028. SES customers also get a stated path to combine Elveo’s LEO layer with SES’s GEO and MEO networks.
