Megafon has launched a light Private LTE service for small and medium-sized enterprises. The offer is built to run from one base station, with a single-unit core network option, and Megafon says it is meant for fast deployment at lower cost.
The service is sized for shorter builds rather than full private-network rollouts. It can cover up to five square kilometres and is designed to support transport, sensors, cameras, and industrial equipment.
From compact footprint to scaled deployment
Megafon says the light version can be scaled up to a higher version, which gives it a path beyond the smallest SME deployments. That matters because the initial footprint is intentionally narrow: one base station, one core unit, and a limited coverage area.
The service does not change the basic private LTE playbook. It compresses it into a smaller package for customers that want private connectivity without starting with a larger network build.
Read for private network buyers
For SMEs evaluating private LTE, the relevant terms are the deployment footprint and coverage limit. Megafon is offering a version that can start small and later scale to a higher version, which makes it a smaller-entry option than a full build.
For operators, the launch is a reminder that private LTE packaging is being pushed toward lower-complexity builds, not just larger enterprise deployments.
