Onited acquires Surelock to expand Cybersecurity as a Service

Onited has acquired cybersecurity specialist Surelock, adding Cybersecurity as a Service offerings to its portfolio.

Surelock, founded in 2017, delivers cybersecurity services through a subscription model supplemented with project-based assignments, supported by its Holmes platform.

Expanding Onited’s Cybersecurity as a Service portfolio

Onited describes the deal as strategic and says the acquisition expands its portfolio with Cybersecurity as a Service offerings. Those expanded offerings include strategic advice, assessments, compliance services, awareness training, and advanced detection solutions.

The article also links Surelock’s capabilities to Onited’s existing positioning as an end-to-end IT services partner, arguing that infrastructure, the digital workplace, and digitization are inseparable from security.

How Surelock’s Holmes platform underpins its services

Surelock focuses on governance, compliance, penetration testing, vulnerability management, and security awareness. It is supported by its own software platform, Holmes, which ties expertise to real-time threat intelligence from Microsoft and various open-source sources.

The services are bundled in a platform aimed at making them accessible and applicable for organizations of any size.

Deal mechanics inside Onited and leadership comments

Onited says it is making Surelock’s expertise directly available within the group for both internal teams and customers. Surelock will initially operate as an independent unit within Onited, with the intent to grow toward a full bundling of forces within the group, while the existing management team remains on board and works closely with Onited’s security specialists.

Onited CEO Olav van de Reijken said the ambition for years has been to grow into a full-fledged MSSP (Managed Security Service Provider), adding that “With the arrival of Surelock, we are taking a big step toward that ambition.”

Surelock’s growth rationale and focus on scalability

Surelock’s general director Ezra Windhorst said Surelock was built with the ambition to make organizations truly safer, and that the company earned a place in the Deloitte Fast 50 for three years in a row through its own efforts.

Windhorst also argued that technological developments and threats make scalability crucial, pointing to Onited’s customer base with complex security needs and saying its direction aligns with Surelock’s vision. He concluded that this is the right moment for Surelock to join Onited to further accelerate growth and impact.
