Eutelsat announced a new multi-year, multi-million agreement under which Angolan operator Mercury will use its OneWeb LEO satellite connectivity services, expanding availability across Angola.
Mercury, previously known as MSTelcom and a subsidiary of Sonangol Group, said the expanded contract builds on a prior deal signed in November 2025.
Deal scope for enterprise, public sector, offshore and telecom
Mercury said the new agreement will enable it to expand the reach of Eutelsat OneWeb’s LEO services for enterprise, public sector, offshore and telecom customers across Angola.
Mercury CEO Francisco Pinto Leite said the agreement reflects the strength of Mercury’s partnership with Eutelsat and the value that LEO connectivity brings to Mercury’s customers.
Eutelsat cites low-latency and resilience outcomes
Philippe Baudrier, Vice President for Africa at Eutelsat, said the commitment reflects growing demand for Eutelsat’s LEO services in Angola.
Baudrier added that the parties are expanding access to secure, low-latency connectivity across Angola, helping customers strengthen network resilience and reach locations beyond coverage of traditional infrastructure.
Licensed position and local infrastructure footprint
Eutelsat said it remains the only LEO satellite operator licensed to offer services in Angola.
Eutelsat also said it has a significant operational presence in Angola through local partners and investments in local infrastructure, including a ground station in partnership with Paratus Group and a local point of presence (PoP).

No financial details were disclosed about the value of the new multi-year deal.
