Ericsson is highlighting its contribution to INTENTION 6G at Viva Technology 2026. The France 2030 project, supported by Bpifrance, has a budget of more than €12 million over four years.

The project targets radio access network energy consumption while still meeting 5G and 6G traffic requirements. It also centers on integrating artificial intelligence into network control, especially at RAN level, to improve performance and energy efficiency.

Midway through the buildout

INTENTION 6G has reached its mid-development phase, and the first technology building blocks have been defined. Ericsson leads the project, with Orange, BubbleRAN, and CentraleSupélec also in the consortium.

How the project is structured

INTENTION 6G uses a public-private partnership model that combines industrial, academic, and entrepreneurial expertise. The project uses demonstrators and experimental platforms to design, test, and validate new solutions for gradual integration into future networks.

The work is organized around advanced automation of network functions, dynamic optimization of energy consumption, and intent-based networks that automatically adjust performance using artificial intelligence.
