EE will activate its 5G+ network at 25 events in the UK this summer, as well as 30 towns, with services spun up on temporary mobile sites at festivals and events.Temporary connectivity for events
The programme covers major event venues including BST Hyde Park, the Isle of Wight Festival, the Reading and Leeds Festival, the Formula One British Grand Prix at Silverstone, and the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Where EE is turning on 5G+events and regional showcases
EE will also make 5G+ available at regional showcases including the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival in Kiltarlity, the Devon County Show, and the Royal Welsh Show in Builth Wells, where permanent 5G+ has been turned on.
For the 25 events and 30 towns, EE says 5G+ services will be spun up on the operator9s temporary mobile sites, aiming at improved connectivity for customers and businesses in the areaparticularly in remote event locations or when large crowds heavily use the network.
5G+ uptake and the 2030 ambition EE is citing
EE says customer usage of 5G+ increased by more than 11% between March and April, and it frames the programme as part of a broader expansion.
EE also states that 5G+ is now available to 75% of the UK population, covering more than 44 million people in England, over 2.1 million people in Wales, 3.3 million people in Scotland, and nearly one million people in Northern Ireland.
EE9s stated ambition is to bring the UK9s highest quality 5G+ connectivity to 99% of the population by the end of March 2030.
ARC capability: capacity sharing and the 20%u201d claim
Alongside the 5G+ rollouts, EE highlighted the roll out of ARC (Advanced RAN Coordination), which enables mobile sites close to each other to share capacity in real time.5G internet load balancer
EE says the approach is supposed to boost network performance, particularly download speeds, by up to 20% without needing additional masts.
ARC has gone live in Edinburgh, Manchester and London, and EE says it is now being spun up in Liverpool, Sheffield, Cardiff, Glasgow, Newcastle and Leeds.
