Marlink and Metis expand ship data intelligence with IoT analytics

Marlink and Metis sign an MoU to broaden IoT onboarding and high-frequency vessel data analytics, aligned with Marlink’s XChange NextGen edge platform.

Marlink and Metis expand ship data intelligence with IoT analytics

Marlink has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Metis to expand IoT capabilities for shipowners and fleet operators, with the partnership aimed at improving how fleets capture and operationalize high-frequency vessel data.

The MoU also sets out a roadmap for deeper technical integration between Metis and Marlink, including aligning Metis IoT and AI-powered analytics capabilities with Marlinks XChange NextGen edge platform.

IoT analytics scope: high-frequency vessel data across operations

The partnership is intended to enable fleets to capture, analyze, and operationalize high-frequency vessel data more effectively, covering fuel consumption, emissions performance, voyage optimisation, machinery performance, compliance reporting, and operational efficiency.IoT connectivity solutions.

Integration roadmap: Metis analytics aligned with Marlink edge

The agreement creates a roadmap for deeper technical integration between Metis and Marlink, with future development focused on bringing Metis IoT and AI-powered analytics capabilities into closer alignment with Marlinks XChange NextGen edge platform.

Where each party fits: acquisition, integration, and go-to-market delivery

Metis will provide onboard data acquisition, equipment integration services, and the analytics platform. Marlink will contribute global maritime digital infrastructure, a cyber-secure network environment, and customer support capabilities, and will bring the solution to market as part of its Possibility solutions portfolio.

What this is expected to do for fleet operations

By enabling more intelligence at the vessel edge, the partnership is expected to help customers accelerate the shift toward smarter, more connected, and data-driven fleet operations.
