Tele2 secured new spectrum in Lithuania for €9.8 million to expand its 5G network. The operator won blocks in the 700 MHz and 1500 MHz bands and renewed spectrum in the 2100 MHz band in the country's latest auction.
Tele2 will pay €4.6 million of the total this year, and the licenses are valid until 2042. The company said its 5G network already reaches 90.2% of the Lithuanian population, and the new frequency allocations are expected to raise that coverage over time.

Tele2 completed its joint venture deal with GCI earlier this year. The Swedish operator said the partnership created the first pan-Baltic tower company.
The new company, UAB, is based in Lithuania and owns around 2,700 tower and rooftop sites in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. That gives Tele2 a separate infrastructure vehicle in the same market where it is now extending spectrum depth.

Tele2's new spectrum comes with long-dated licenses, which gives it room to plan beyond the current auction cycle. The 90.2% population-reach figure also sets a clear baseline for how much headroom the operator still has in Lithuania.
For operators and investors watching Baltic mobile assets, the useful signal is that spectrum and tower infrastructure are being pushed forward on separate tracks, not bundled into one move.
