Vodafone Business deepens connected vehicle partnership with Geely Technology Europe

Vodafone Business and Geely Technology Europe extended their partnership to include Internet in the Car, Mobile Private Networks, and Cloud Connect.

The services are designed to support in-vehicle diagnostics and over-the-air software updates, secure vehicle-to-cloud data transfer, and always-on connectivity that feeds customer feedback back into vehicle development.

What the expanded deal adds: IoC, Mobile Private Networks and Cloud Connect

Under the extended partnership, Vodafone Business is bringing Internet in the Car capabilities to GTEU, along with Mobile Private Networks and Cloud Connect solutions. Vodafone’s Internet in the Car service is positioned as a foundation for diagnostics and over-the-air software updates, while Cloud Connect is aimed at secure data transfer between vehicles and cloud systems.

Vodafone also provides connectivity used across Geely Technology Europe’s operations in Germany and Sweden, plus support for its pan-European sales teams.

How the architecture is meant to improve the driver experience

GTEU plays a key role in developing vehicle architectures, digital platforms, and intelligent systems. Its in-car service approach is described as delivering responsive integrated in-car internet and digital services including dynamic electric vehicle charging planning and 3D lane guidance.

Central to that approach is equipping vehicles with the latest software, data, and connected services so Geely can monitor vehicle performance and support improvements to the driver experience.

Always-on connectivity as an input to development cycles

Vodafone Business vehicle services are positioned to support GTEU in responding to customer insights and continuously enhancing vehicles after they leave the showroom. One example cited is Zeekr Navigation, where secure always-on connectivity enables instant in-vehicle customer feedback.

The setup is said to shorten development cycles and improve GTEU’s ability to identify issues and deploy improvements rapidly.

Connectivity scale, security requirements, and EV growth

Vodafone Business says it provides solutions tailored to international cybersecurity, data protection, and regulatory compliance needs, while enabling Geely to scale rapidly across regions by leveraging Vodafone’s extensive global network. The partnership also leans on Vodafone Internet in the Car, which combines Vodafone’s global managed Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity platform with local internet service providers, with that platform currently having over 240 million connections worldwide.

Giovanni Lanfranchi, CEO at Geely Technology Europe, said Geely has moved beyond simple transport solutions and that vehicles can be continuously improved through software using data and connectivity to enable a more responsive and personalised user experience over time. Fanan Henriques, Vodafone Business Product and International Business Director of Vodafone Business, added that opportunities to enhance electric vehicles’ safety, efficiency, and user experience through digital connectivity are significant as adoption continues to grow, and that Vodafone is supporting Geely’s growth in vehicle sales across Europe with a secure, multi-service digital infrastructure.

Vodafone Business also pointed to connected-vehicle scale expectations, saying that by 2030 it is expected that more than 98% of new passenger vehicles sold will be connected, and that it is ready to help drive that expansion.
