Claro Brasil signed on as the official technology supplier and sponsor for Nubank Parque in Sao Paulo, with a commercial 5.5G build and a Wi-Fi 6 network for the arena.
The disclosed scope is specific: the 5.5G layer includes mmWave spectrum, while the Wi-Fi 6 layer is sized for venue traffic rather than ordinary enterprise coverage.
5.5G layer uses mmWave spectrum
The deal includes a comprehensive infrastructure upgrade to a commercial 5.5G network featuring mmWave spectrum. That is the mobile layer Claro Brasil is putting in place for the venue.
For event operators, the relevant detail is not the label but the radio choice. mmWave points to a build aimed at high-capacity, short-range venue coverage rather than a generic campus rollout.
Wi-Fi 6 adds the high-density layer
The upgrade also includes a high-density Wi-Fi 6 network. Claro Brasil is pairing the mobile layer with local wireless capacity across the arena.
The company says the Wi-Fi 6 network can handle 65,000 concurrent user connections across 792 access points. Those are the only scale figures disclosed in the deal.
Read for venue connectivity buyers
Nubank Parque now has a named reference design that combines mmWave 5.5G with Wi-Fi 6 in the same venue build. Buyers planning stadium or arena connectivity can compare their own access-point counts and concurrency targets against the disclosed 792 access points and 65,000 simultaneous connections.
