Speedcast is delivering connectivity services to 41 roll-on/roll-off vessels in Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s fleet, using a package built around a global WAN, Starlink and Eutelsat OneWeb dual-LEO solutions, Iridium Certus, and LTE-based backup service (via www.marinelink.com).
The deployment sits inside a connectivity transformation program for Wallenius Wilhelmsen that Soya IT Marine Solutions delivered for the customer. The upgraded digital connectivity was completed entirely remotely.
Bridge access, crew use, and remote commissioning
The fleet now has managed access to enterprise software on the bridge, while crew members have improved streaming and social media access during off-hours. Soya provides technical and operational support for Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s fleet, and the remote commissioning was completed with support from Speedcast’s project management teams.
Droam Perspective
For maritime fleet operators, this is a straightforward benchmark for how hybrid connectivity packages are being assembled and delivered at scale. The important part is not the marketing label; it is that the work covered 41 vessels, combined satellite and terrestrial backup, and was finished remotely.
